Dream Cast for the Hunger Games Continued!

Haymitch Abernathy:
Haymitch is Peeta's and Katniss' mentor, and he's the only person ever to win the Hunger Games from District Twelve. He's a drunkard, and he's super sarcastic when he's sober. Jack Black would be great for the part.

Effie Trinket:
Effie is the District Twelve escort to the Capitol. She has pink hair and is horse-faced. Judy Greer, anyone?

OTHER TRIBUTES:

Thresh:
Thresh is Rue's male counterpart from District 11. He is a giant, black boy who doesn't play the Games on anyone's terms but his own. He can be violently protective, and killed someone because he thought they killed Rue. (He was fond of her for some reason?) Well, that makes me think of Quinton Aaron, the actor who played Michael Oher in the Blind Side. Who could be better?

Glimmer:
Glimmer was a beautiful Career Tribute, which means she was raised to be in the Games. She knew her strengths and was confident with herself. She died when Katniss dropped a nest full of mutated wasps with enhanced venom, or tracker jackers, on her camp. But she was described as being extremely beautiful. So's Taylor Swift! Doesn't it fit?
Cato & Clove:
Cato & Clove are the deadly Careers from District 2. Clove is the girl, and Cato is the boy. They may have been in love. Clove is deadly with a knife, and Cato is strong beyond belief. I chose Phillip Ettinger and Malese Jow. They look fierce to me . . .
And the LAST ONE:
Foxface:
Foxface is extremely clever. Foxface isn't her real name, but she looks like a fox so Katniss calls her that. Stacey Farber looks like a fox, and she's the type to use the ingenious strategies used by Foxface, such as hiding in the trees and stealing the other tribute's food.

Dream Cast for the Hunger Games!

Well. For a homework assignment, I had to cast a book being turned into a movie that hadn't been cast yet. I decided to do the Hunger Games, a popular Science Fiction action book that I recommend to anyone who wants an exciting read. The book is about the futuristic nation of Panem, formerly North America, that is split into twelve districts. Every year, the Capitol hosts a "Hunger Games," an intense battle to the death on live television that everyone has to watch. Each year they choose a boy and a girl over the age of twelve from each district to compete in the Hunger Games. Katniss' sister, Prim, gets picked for the 74th Hunger Games, and she's only twelve. Katniss volunteers to go for her, and is plunged into the nightmare the Capitol provides for their entertainment. Here's who I picked for the cast!:

Katniss Everdeen:
Katniss is the main character, who volunteers to be a "tribute" for District Twelve instead of her younger sister. She's supposed to have tan skin, long, dark brown hair, and grey eyes. I chose Jodelle Ferland because she looks the part, and has the right acting experience. I feel she could pull off Katniss' fierce on the outside, vulnerable on the inside attitude quite well.

Peeta Mellark:
Peeta is Katniss' male counterpart from District Twelve, and he's the baker's son. He is described as having blond hair and blue eyes. Katniss and Peeta don't have much interaction between the two of them before the games, except when Peeta intentionally burned bread so he could give it to Katniss' starving family. He is extremely kind and handsome, and good in front of a camera. For Peeta I picked Lucas Till. He's good at playing the oh-so-lovable pretty-boy, as we know from Hannah Montanna.

Gale Hawthorne:
Gale is Katniss' best friend from District Twelve. He and Katniss give each other comfort when their fathers both die in the same mine explosion at ages 11 and 13. Being two years older than Katniss, he sort of provided an older brother type thing, although it turns out to be more than that. For the part of Gale you need someone older-looking, with tan skin, dark hair and grey eyes as well. I chose Avan Jogia. He's handsome and looks great for the part, if you just cut his hair.

Primrose Everdeen:
Prim's name is the one originally chosen in the "reaping" for the Hunger Games. Suzanne Collins describes Prim in her book by saying she has fair skin and hair, and blue eyes. She is apparently delicate and beautiful. So, I chose Elle Fanning. She is so cute, and she has this angelic aura . . . totally Prim.

Rue:
Rue is Katniss' tiny ally in the arena. She can leap from tree to tree, and when you see her, it is "impossible not to think of a bird". She has dark skin, brown hair, and big brown eyes, and is much like Prim, which is why Katniss decides to help her. I chose Madison Pettis for the part of Rue. She fits the description and is the perfect age.

Hey family! We are officially spending 2.5-3 hours at the Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center in Pleasant Grove! Here's a list of the jobs-- just let me know which ones your child/ren would like to be. I'll just take whatever's left.

Captain:
Responsible for the command of the remote starship USS Ranger, primarily responsible for running of the ship.

Executive Officer:
Responsible for all command decisions relating to the internal operations of the station. Access to shields, cloaking device, and flight controls. Assists in control of the USS Ranger.

Chief of Security:
Responsible for maintaining of order and security throughout the Station.

Deputy Chief of Security:
Assits the Chief of Security in the Security of the Station.

Surviellance Officer:
The Eyes of the Station who scans space both long and short range.

Chief of Operations:
In control of all systems directly controlling the internal operation of the Station, and the Transwarp Hyperdrive.

Deputy Chief of Operations:
Assistant to the Ops Chief.

Counterintelligence Officer:
The "spy" on the station sending out both sensors probes and defensive probes.

Strategic Operations:
In control of all defensive systems on the station and in control of all Reseach and Develpoment on the Station.

Systems Damage Control:
Directly responsible for the repair of all damaged systems on the station.

Structural Damage Control:
Directly responsible for the repair of all damaged to the structure ofá the station.

Remote Communications:
Responsible for all civilian communications that come and go through the Station.

Division Communications:
Responsible for all military communications that come and go through the station.

IT'S FINALLY OVER! After the seven years at Cedar Ridge Elementary, I will never go to school there ever again. I am sad but happy!

Mind-Blowing.

Study that picture below the aliens for a while. That is a picture that is sometimes called the most important picture of all time. It is the Hubble Space Telescope deep-field shot. See all those glowing dots? Every single one of them is a galaxy! Every single one of them has so much we could discover! Every single one of them has a HUGE possibility of containing life! I love to think about this! We can't possibly be "alone in the universe!" (Seussical the Musical, Horton the Elephant) There isn't enough room on Earth for all the spirits in heaven! There has to be other places like Earth! WE AREN'T ALONE! I want to discover! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! SEND ME TO SPACE! (This shows you how busy Heavenly Father and Jesus were "in the beginning")

The little green men shown above are pretty much what I'd call my toddler brain's alien mind-picture. I now know that aliens look more like you and me! I am happy to have it revealed to me that I can now not be afraid of aliens! (Or maybe I should. If they're anything like me, yes. I am.)

Explaination of "And Somewhat Nerdy"

Well. I haven't posted in . . . a while. So I decided today, well, better update people.

In fifth grade I discovered a place better than any theme park I've ever been to. If you know me, you know I talk about it endlessly. It is: The Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center.
For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, it is otherwise known as space camp. If you know me, you know I'm a fan of Sci-Fi. I LOVE Star Trek, and I watch the old ones as well as the new movie. This place helps you learn about space in an awesome, yet not boring way!
What you do there is you choose a mission, and depending on how many people are involved, you get onto one of five space ship simulators: The Galileo, 5-6 people, the Phoenix, 5-6 people, the Odyssey, 6-8 people, the Voyager, 10-11 people, and the Magellan, 11-15 people. Every mission is like living a Star Trek or Babylon 5 episodes!
If you are a Pew family member, you know that this summer our family is having a family reunion. I maybe- MAYBE, no guarantees- might be able to schedule a trip to space camp for a mission! It is just in Pleasant Grove, close to my house, and we'd be there for three or more hours. If you have children who are or who will be by summer between the ages of 10-15, they are eligible to go! And IF we do go, I need to know how many people will be going so I know which ship to book. There are no promises; but if you are a Pew and you follow this blog, send me the names of all your children in the age limit so I can count and give options. I already have the Cranes counted, as well as Jessie Pew. Sorry I don't know all the family's names, but please let me do this! It would be so fun for all of us IF we could go!

Birthday Party

Today I attended a very awesome birthday party. It was very fun! We went to the classic roller skating place in Orem. We arrived at the skating rink, rented out roller skates, and were on the floor, skating it smoothly, by 4:30. We were having so much fun!
Then the DJ announced a snowball skate. It was girls choice, and my friend got to start, being the birthday girl. She chose a really cute, really nice boy. He was Hispanic and a fantastic skater. His name was Johnny.
Johnny then asked me, and since my friend couldn't find anyone else to skate with, she grabbed his other side. The song was Love Story by Taylor Swift. It was actually really fun!
Later that evening, Johnny asked us to skate with him again. You gotta believe me; he was a really nice kid! (He even bowed!) So we obliged.
We then went with the party giver's mom to get ice cream. And lo and behold, who skates up to us but -- you guessed it -- Johnny. Johnny gave my friend a rose and me a wink. We were all giggling way hard by then! When we went home we teased my friend endlessly.
It's not as if I'm totally in love with this kid. I've just never had anyone express that much feeling toward my friends ever, and it was only the first time we'd met him! He was very very nice.
I think that this party will be very fun to look back at.

Wow.

This week has sort of been a crazy time for my friends and I. This week I was a hall monitor (feel free to insert menacing music of your choice here). That means I wear a retarded yellow vest and carry around a clipboard while kicking people who aren't supposed to be in the hall out. I chose two girls to do hall monitor job with me, and my friend (yes, HE is a boy) chose two other boys.
The problems begin here.
So, one of the boys my friend chose is a little "hyper". He got a little jumpy and yelled at a few people, apparently. (I wasn't there; I'm taking my friend's word for it and I trust her completely.) The day after this happened, they spent the day contemplating this and decided that the boy should be suspended from hall patrol duty. I, however, was not particularly eager to take sides.
I was worried that if I joined the boys' side of the argument, I would lose my girl friends. But I didn't want to lose my guy friends either! I decided to be neutral, providing good reasons for both sides' arguments.
Most of you know that some girls are passionate about the things they are supporting. One of my girl friends is one of them. She tried all through today to convince me to "have an opinion" and that I was "entitled to say what I think."
I tried to convince her that I didn't WANT an opinion.
My guy friends seemed to be slipping away, most likely thinking I would most definitely side with the other girls. I made it known that I was NEUTRAL.
Finally, the boy whom this was all about yelled at someone and called their cousin stupid, and my guy friends drew the line. They "fired" him, so to speak, and FINALLY, everything is back to normal again. I was proud of the guys. They are willing to sacrifice things for others of more importance. Which is why guys are good to have around.

Things that Happened Today

Today was a sort of good and bad day.
Today, being a student council officer, I had to go over the intercom and do morning announcements. It was scary because I messed up and my demonic assistant principal was standing right next to me and looking at me like I killed someone.
Then I had to go practice for the sixth-grade dance -- coming up this year! We started partner dancing. It was fun, but a little awkward.
We also had science presentations and I sort of forgot about them, but at least I was prepared.
I had hall patrol at school which is almost impossibly boring. Ugh. YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.
On the way home from school my friend almost fainted and her brother got a giant goose egg- about the size of a key chain. Yikes.

I'm a Slacker, I Know It!

Okay, here it goes . . . Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I know, it's a week late. Well, I changed the blog for the new year.
Updates: Well, school's great. I love my classes, especially ancient world history, particularly Greece. I love the mythology!
For musical theater, I'm doing Seussical the Musical. I am a Bird Girl. I'm performing in March and I will be singing a lot. The songs are fun, the dances are exciting, the teachers are nice (and weird) and I love it so much!
I played recreation soccer this year. I was a decent player and I scored a couple goals. My basketball season starts on Friday and this is one of the many exciting things happening to me this month! I LOVE to play basketball! It's so fun!
My last year was way fun! I got to go to St. George with my Granny Louw, and we saw the Secret Garden in the Utah Shakespearean Festival. I got to go hiking with my friends and activity day group, and this summer was one of the few that didn't involve any bee stings, which rocked! I also turned twelve and became a Young Woman. Going to Mutual is awesome! I love our church! This November I got to go to overnight Space Camp with one of my good friends. It was the highlight of November! I loved it!
